Purpose
To manage and coordinate harvesting operations, log procurement, timber tract purchase and delivery, and log supply issues for an assigned area.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and report data on product specifications.
- Cruises, maps and analyzes timber data and assigns values.
- Hire, train, and manage performance of staff.
- Manage workflow for logging contractors and raw material utilization.
- Manage, coordinate and schedule harvesting operations, log procurement, timber tract purchase and delivery, and log supply issues for assigned area.
- Manages and supervises FOB contracts; oversees, evaluates, and coordinates contractors and vendors.
- Administer outside sales of wood products.
- Prepare pricing specifications for contracts.
- Budget forecasting and management.
- Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of Best Management Practices and Environmental regulations.
- Commercial Driver’s License required.
- Ability to understand and administer legal contracts.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge or supervisory and management techniques.
- Good organizational and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated supervisory skills.
- Ability to operate a computer and supporting software.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Forestry or related field.
Experience
- 2-3 years' supervisory experience.
- 5-7 years' forestry experience.
- Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
