Purpose

To manage and coordinate harvesting operations, log procurement, timber tract purchase and delivery, and log supply issues for an assigned area.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and report data on product specifications.
• Cruises, maps and analyzes timber data and assigns values.
• Hire, train, and manage performance of staff.
• Manage workflow for logging contractors and raw material utilization.  
• Manage, coordinate and schedule harvesting operations, log procurement, timber tract purchase and delivery, and log supply issues for assigned area.
• Manages and supervises FOB contracts; oversees, evaluates, and coordinates contractors and vendors.
• Administer outside sales of wood products.
• Prepare pricing specifications for contracts.
• Budget forecasting and management.
• Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations.
• Perform other duties as necessary.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Best Management Practices and Environmental regulations.
• Commercial Driver’s License required.
• Ability to understand and administer legal contracts.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge or supervisory and management techniques.
• Good organizational and analytical skills.
• Demonstrated supervisory skills.
• Ability to operate a computer and supporting software.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Forestry or related field.

Experience

• 2-3 years' supervisory experience.
• 5-7 years' forestry experience.
• Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
